FOOD!

Shannon has ventured into the world of solid food! We started off with some oatmeal cereal and have recently added bananas into the mix. So far, so good!

I think there might be some sweet potatoes or peas in her near future.

Six Months

I feel like every time I blink these days she's changing. Here, see what I mean?

She's born. Blink. She's one month. Blink. She's two months. Blink. She's three months. Blink. She's four months. Blink. She's five months. Blink. And suddenly it's 2008 and my "brand new baby" is six months already.

Lots of milestones to weigh in on this month...

...she's sitting up pretty well. I timed her one morning on our bed and she went four minutes before teetering too far and plopping over. Fortunately, she doesn't seem to get too upset when she faceplants!

...she plays with her toys these days. Blocks and her ring of links are big time favorites, worthy of intense concentration....

...and showing off to the dogs!

...she's started eating solid foods. So far we've tried oatmeal and bananas. De-licious!

...she can roll from her back to her tummy, but once she's there she's stuck. (And angry about it!)

...she's a mini-Michael Jordan. That tongue is always out! (And she's 97th percentile for height, seriously, is this MY kid?)

...she lights up when she sees the dogs. And they are equally big fans of hers. Spike faithfully participates in her bedtime routine, following us from bathtub to changing table to the chair in her room. Most nights he falls asleep before she does!

...she's sleeping well and creeping closer to honest-to-goodness "through the night" sleep. She usually goes down around 7:30, wakes up once in the wee hours, and starts her day around 6:30. Recently that wee hour waking has been as late as 5 am, so we're almost there! (Right?!?!)

...still no teeth. Even though I swear that part of one was popping through in early December, there is nothing there now. So we continue to patiently wait for those mean old teeth to hurry up and get here!

...she's gotten very domestic. Loves playing in laundry and chewing on measuring spoons!

Look What Mommy Did!

Video!

I know that I have been promising it for, oh, about as long as I've been promising to post pictures of our "new" house. But I have locked myself away tonight and think that I might actually be capable of uploading, editing and posting video now.

Of course, now I need to take some video of the amazing girl herself to post. In the meantime, enjoy this snippet. It's got some of her favorite things in the world in it... Daddy, doggies and dancing!

Little Fishy

One of the things Shannon asked Santa for this year was a bathing suit so that she could go swimming at the YMCA.
The big guy delivered, and after buying some snazzy Finding Nemo swim diapers, Shannon was ready to hit the pool.

Not surprisingly, she loved it! We thought she would since bathtime is a hit and she enjoys being swooped and whooshed around on dry land. Our little daredevil had a blast!

"Hey, this stuff is hard to hold."

We stayed in until she was looking pretty tired (not to mention pruny!) but I'm sure we'll be back soon!

I Want to Be a Part of It...

...New York, New York!

We didn't actually wake up in the city that never sleeps, but we DID wake up and drive up to visit Mike and Hanna between Christmas and New Years.

After opening some cool presents...

...we headed out for a day in Manhattan.

We started off with some yummy NY style pizza at "our favorite pizza joint." From there we window-shopped on Park Ave and Fifth Ave, strolled in Central Park, watched some ice skaters, saw the big Christmas tree at Rockfeller Center, popped into St. Pat's, and indulged at Buttercup, a trendy cupcake shop.

Back at the apartment, Shannon showed off her d-e-l-i-c-i-o-u-s toes and enjoyed some almost-nakey baby time.

Then it was time to bundle back up and head home. Thanks for the fun day!
